“I hate you because you’re white” “And I hate you because you’re black”

From 1994 white and black have been thrown together in the South African pot. The whole world waited for an explosive chemical reaction to take place. Nothing however happened and the world relaxed with a sigh of relief, thinking that everything went rather well. They went so far as to start referring to it as a miracle. Archbishop Tutu was over the moon and referred to us as the Rainbow Nation. No one realized that the necessary catalyst, required to set the chemical reaction going, was not added. White and black intuitively new that the explosion that it would cause, would be too ferocious for this country to handle.
We all sat back and hoped for a slow fusion process to do the trick. This never happened. To the contrary. Both sides withdrew into themselves and hate and mistrust had the opportunity to fester and brew. We have now reached a point where we realize that we can not escape the inevitable confrontation. We have to face each other or be annihilated by the hate which manifest itself in the present crime wave.
We now confront each other and Sandile Memela – probably the most unlikely candidate – has fired the first salvo by spitting in the faces of ‘white racist’, that including all together with the not-so-white ‘coconuts’.
It is important that as many people as possible participate in this brawl, including those who left this country due to the ills of ‘a delayed fusion’. It is equally important that everyone speaks his mind without any inhibition other than our own civility. We are not going to resolve hundreds, if not thousands, of years of hate and disrespect for each other with a few soothing words after which we kiss and make-up! But most important is that we listen to what the other side is saying. From the contributions so far it is absolutely clear that we know nothing of each other. We do not know how the other race’s mind works and before we do not have this knowledge, we can never respect each other and live together in peace and prosperity.
