The new crime statistics for the period April to September 2007 are out. The government and those who suck-up to it will focus on the fact that many of the statistics show a downward trend. What I and the rest of us, threatened by crime see, is the following:
Murders 8925
Attempted murder 9269
Conclusion: 18 194 murders were attempted over a period of 6 months with just under the 59% being successful. This adds up to 36 388 over the period of one year at more or less 100 incidences per day.
Robberies (theft with assault:
At residences 6711
At businesses 4438
Conclusion: 11 249 robberies were committed in which people were assaulted or threatened, either in their homes or at work.
Then Mbeki comes and explains to foreign governments that they distort the crime figure under the influence of some ‘populists’. It must be that, when his head is not in the clouds it is in arse. and that he has a serious psycological problem in facing reality. There is no AIDS, just poverty! There is no crime, just populist misrepresentation. There is no Zuma, just a lot of fat women, craving to become president!
